After spending the bulk of his offseason training at IMG Academies, U.S. Men’s National Team player Eddie Johnson recently signed with Seattle Sounders FC — and didn’t have to go anywhere to join the club.
Currently training/scrimmaging at the IMG Soccer Academy, the Sounders immediately put Johnson to work in a scrimmage this past weekend against Florida Gulf Coast University. Johnson responded with a beautiful step-over, then left-footed curling shot to beat the FGCU ‘keeper in a 5-0 Seattle win. Check out highlights (courtesy of SoundersFC.com):
Prior to his signing, Johnson went through daily on-field sessions led by IMG Soccer Academy Director, Scott Dean, and was often joined by Freddy Adu and New England Revolution’s Zak Boggs. Off the field, Johnson worked with Performance experts in all phases of his game, including Mental Conditioning with IMG Performance Institute Director, Trevor Moawad.
