With the Seattle Sounders arriving yesterday here at IMG Soccer Academy as part of their preseason training regime, they wasted no time getting into the swing of things. Today the Seattle Sounders scrimmaged versus the Columbus Crew as a measuring stick for both MLS clubs here in Bradenton, Florida. This marks the fourth professional soccer club to have stopped here at IMG Academies in 2012 including MLS clubs D.C. United, Columbus Crew and Seattle Sounders along with Malmö FF (professional club from Sweden).
Columbus Crew is finishing up there two week stay here at IMG Soccer Academy as they depart tomorrow. The Seattle Sounders plan to stay for about the same two week time frame.
The scrimmage today involved IMG Academies in a different aspect other than providing state of the art soccer facilities for two MLS clubs. Former IMG Performance Institute intern and employee Brook Hamilton is now a Performance coach for Columbus Crew.
Hamilton started as an intern at IMG Academies working in IMG Performance Institute as a performance coach back in 2001 and progressed as a full time performance coach and worked here up until 2008.
Said Hamilton
“I gained a lot of experience and worked with a great network of people in the sports industry at IMG Performance Institute. I started as an intern and was able to establish my career as I continued to develop throughout my tenure at IMG Academies. My time spent at IMG Academies won’t be forgotten and has allowed me to obtain my current position with the Columbus Crew.”
