It’s been called “The World’s Toughest Job Interview.” For six days at the NFL Combine (Feb. 22 — Feb. 28), college football’s best will be measured, interviewed, tested, watched and analyzed by countless NFL coaches, general managers and scouts conducting all of their due diligence before the NFL Draft. To prepare, more than two dozen prospects have traveled to IMG Academies for six-plus weeks of Physical, Mental, Communication, Nutrition and Vision training with IMG Performance Institute specialists and on-field training with some of the game’s top football coaches through the IMG Madden Football Academy.
California Native and former University of Oregon linebacker Josh Kaddu was a multi-sport athlete growing up playing basketball, track and football. That versatility has allowed Kaddu to become the player and NFL draft prospect he is today. He is able to rush the edge, play the middle, defend in coverage, efficiently tackle and can also contribute on special teams. Kaddu is a very unselfish player on the field and recently took time out of his strenuous schedule to discuss his college selection, family life growing up and NFL potential.
Josh Kaddu on…
… Playing both sides of the ball in high school
“In high school I played a lot of offense my first three years but my family and coaches ultimately knew I was defensive guy, so at the beginning of my career I played both sides of the ball but during my senior year I mostly played defense and it was something I excelled at.”
…Choosing Oregon over other schools
“I chose to play at the University of Oregon because at the time they were recruiting me they were up and coming with a very solid program. The majority of the Pac-10 (now PAC-12) were involved in recruiting me but Oregon seemed to have the most upside, looking back I couldn’t be happier with my decision.”
…Oregon’s plethora of uniforms
“HAHAHA…It’s definitely a nice perk to have but I chose Oregon because they are a winning program. The Nike gear is definitely a good add on to everything else they have to offer at Oregon. “
…Other sports played outside of football
“I played track and was also a power forward in basketball.”
… Playing in the National Championship game vs. Auburn compared to regular season games
“At Oregon we treat every game the same, every week on Saturday it’s the Super Bowl so the National Championship was just another Super Bowl to us. It was a 14 game season so the National Championship was Super Bowl number 14 for the year, so we were able to play the same as we would any other game.”
…Being one of five siblings growing up
“It was good, HAHAHA… there was never a quiet moment in the house, at first I didn’t like it but there is so much love now. I feel like now I can’t be in a house where it is to quiet and I can’t even study if it’s too quiet, I need music in the background sometimes.”
…Strongest point of his game
“Probably that I am versatile, I can come in and play anywhere a team needs me, I can play on the outside, if they want me to come inside or play special teams it doesn’t matter to me. I’m a person who wants to come in and make the team better, that mindset, my whole attitude and versatility is my strongest attribute as a player. “
… An off the wall hobby
“ I’m really just a normal guy I’m real laid back I love football, lifting and watching sports center”
…Going to Disney Land trip prior to Rose Bowl
“It was fun, the only knock I can think of is that it was a lot of walking it really does drain you. It was fun just being out there being with your teammates and going all over the place, plus we got the VIP access with the fast passes so it was a good trip.”
…Describing himself as a football player in three different words
“ Competitor, tough and smart”
…First thing that comes to mind
Favorite meal- “Bacon cheeseburger with fries”
Favorite athlete of all time- “Lorence Taylor”
Favorite Actor- “Denzel Washington”
…Why an NFL GM should draft Josh Kaddu
“I am a player that just wants to make the team better any way I can, I am a great teammate in the locker room and everything I do is a full effort nothing half hearted. I plan on going hard every day in practice and also making sure everyone around me is going equally as hard. I will go to practice every day knowing that it’s a job, time is money and I’m not trying to waste any bodies’ time or money. I will do everything I can to be the best player that I can be day in and day out.”

Not only a great player but also a great friend and man!
