Peter Uihlein in 2006 at IMG Leadbetter Golf Academy

Peter Uihlein is the new World Amateur Golf Ranking Number One. Despite not playing in Week 18, the Oklahoma State University sophomore earns his status as a result of WAGR’s 52-week schedule, which rewards consistency of performance over the year.

Peter, 20 and a sophomore at OSU, was a stand-out performer at last September’s Walker Cup, taking four points from a possible four. At the Big 12 Championship in Week 17, a Category A event, the former IMG’er underlined his remarkable consistency with a second-place finish.

Also this week, Peter was one of 10 golfers to be named to the All-Big 12 Squad. This honor goes to the the Top-10 highest-ranked student-athletes according to the Golfweek/Sagarin rankings following the Big 12 Championship.

Peter was picked to the squad for the first time after logging victories at the Ping/Golfweek Invitational and the Gifford Collegiate. The Pendleton Grad and IMG Alum was also the runner-up at last week’s Big 12 Championship and tied for third at the Isleworth Collegiate.

Keep up the good play Peter!
