Laetitia Beck - Champion of the 2010 Verizon Jr. Heritage

Congratulations to Laetitia Beck  of Israel for winning the 2010 Verizon Junior Heritage. Laetitia, who is now in her fourth year at IMG, won the girl’s title by two strokes with a four-over-par 147.

Starting the day on Sunday, Laetitia shared the girl’s division lead with defending champion and currently ranked #1 golfer in the country- Alexis Thompson.   This was set to be a similar Sunday showdown as Laetitia and Alexis went to a sudden death playoff in 2009.  Alexis beat her in the playoff in last year, so Laetitia set out on Sunday to turn the results in her favor this year.

Laetitia opened the final round with a birdie on the long and difficult tenth hole and the outright lead. Throughout the day, she shared the lead between Alexis and Sierra Sims on three different occasions but she never fell behind. Alexis finished the day two shots behind Laetita for second, while Sierra finished in third.

This was Latetia’s third trip to the Verizon Junior Heritage and her third top ten finish.

This is also Laetitia’s 3rd win in her last four events.  In December Laetitia won the FCWT University of Florida Challenge and the Doral/Publix Jr.  She also had a Top 10 finish at the Junior Orange Bowl.  The win at Verizon is her first for 2010!  She is set to compete again this week at the AJGA Annika event in Reunion, FL.

Congrats Laeitita!
