In accordance with IMG Academies’ goal of constantly improving and expanding programs, the IMG Soccer Academy recently broke ground for 9 new on-campus soccer fields.

Set for a January 2010 completion, the grass fields will add to the seven existing fields to allow for more capability in hosting tournaments and provide more room for comprehensive training.

“Already one of the best training facilities, the Academy continues to show its commitment to youth soccer and professional development,” said Soccer Academy director Tom Durkin. “These fields will allow many new and exciting developments to continue to raise the level.”

The Academy uses the fields for the Academy’s Premier Development League team, the U.S. Soccer Development Academy League, and all of the Soccer Academy’s boys’ and girls’ teams.

In 2009, the Academy’s U-18 boys’ team finished third nationally in the Development Academy league. The Bradenton Academics — the Academy’s PDL team — made it to the league semifinals.
