The Bradenton Academics at IMG Academies are one of nearly 70 teams from around the country representing the United Soccer Leagues in the Premier Development League, which mainly consists of college-age players. The league will run throughout the summer.
For having a foot in all four goals in a 4-o win against Central Florida last week, forward Ederson Lopes earned an honorable mention spot on the PDL Team of the Week.
What’s even more impressive about the performance is that Lopes did it in 50 minutes of action after subbing on for an injured Ze Roberto Ramos. Lopes’ scoring outburst came in a 10-minute span between the 45th and 57th minute, when the Academics scored all of their goals. He also assisted on a goal by Zak Boggs, his 9th goal of the season.
Lopes is the third Bradenton player to earn a spot on the 14-person Team of the Week. Boggs has made first-team twice, and Ramos was named Honorable Mention once.
