The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour, a Southeastern regional tour, headed to the Orlando Area this past weekend April 25-26, 2009 to host the Stoneybrook West Junior Shootout. Stoneybrook West is an Arthur Hills design which features lots of undulation, great greens and a challenging layout that includes water on 12 holes.
DLGA student, James Leadbetter, took home the Boys 13-15 title with a final round of even-par 72 on Sunday. James, who shot 80 on Saturday, began the day one shot off the lead. James played the back nine in fine fashion posting a two-under-par 34 en route to a two day total of 152.
Ryan Mosley of St. Petersburg, Florida came up one shot short with rounds of 79-74. Mosley mounted a charge on the final five holes; playing them in two-under par. Rounding out the top three was Greg Dana of Gainesville, Florida with rounds of 79-83.
James, the son of David Leadbetter, is a first year student at the DLGA Bradenton. He works with Senior Instructor, David Madras, on his game.
