Prospect to watch for in 2009
Tyler Pastornicky was the Blue Jays 5th round pick in 2008 and had a successful debut with the GCL Blue Jays where he stole 27 bases while walking as often as he struck out. The shortstop also plays good defense with an above average arm and good athleticism.
Pastornicky was an outstanding high school player at The Pendleton School who spent 4 years at the IMG Baseball Academy. A Florida State commit, Tyler decided to sign with the Blue Jays after being selected in the 5th round. During the offseason, Pastornicky trained at the IMG Performance Institute in preparation for his first full season of professional baseball. The 6′ 175 lb shortstop gained 15 lbs during the offseason while managing to lower his 60 yd time to a 6.58.
